GE Rail Car Project

Upon suffering a collision with a train at the Port of Albany, a rail car that was transporting a GE stater that weighed 480 tons, needed to be repaired. The Port of Coeymans was hired to dismantle the rail car on site to be shipped to a different location to be reconstructed. The Port’s crew was able to quickly and efficiently execute the project upon completion of dismantling the GE stater it had been transporting and moving it to a new rail car for delivery. The process was complete within three to four days. A second rail car project handled by the Port was the preparation of a rail car to deliver an oversize package to Mexico. With only two days to prepare the train car, the Port crew was able to ensure that the oversize material would be safely and securely set for transport.
